Learning to sing means beginning an artistic journey full of rich and unexpected experiences. Singing can approach a quality of timeless beauty, giving both singer and listener a sensation of freedom and heartfelt expression, yet it rests on a basis of disciplined training and practice.
Bel Canto, beautiful singing, is the name we use today for the style of singing which Nicola Vaccai taught, which helps the voice become flexible and expressive, improves the vocal range and breathing capacity and is the technique I use to train my students.
My objective is to impart a practical method for those desirous of attaining proficiency in the vocal arts. Bel Canto carries over well as a foundation for opera, rock, pop, gospel and musical theatre.
I have worked with experienced performers and beginners, adults and children. All are welcome. If you are working on a particular performance or audition piece you are encouraged to bring sheet music or a backing CD.
The lessons last for 1 1/2 hours, the cost is $25. I am located on Henry St near East Broad St Savannah. Times are from 6pm to 9pm Monday to Friday.
